Thread on natural plywood - 74cm x 74cm
Within this piece I used my threads like a painter would their paint. At first glance the piece appears to be made from one or two coloured threads. However I have used six threads ranging in different tones of pink, red and orange, to depict the structure of the face, and create areas of light and shadow. The result being a bold artwork with lots of depth.

Imogen Morris is an artist living and working in Birmingham, UK. Imogen was born in Birmingham in 1991 and received a first-class degree from Kingston University in Fine Art and Art History (BA hons) in 2013. She has been a practicing artist for 6 years, and her works are held in a number of private and public collections in the UK and internationally.
Imogen's practice challenges the boundaries between craft and fine art. By putting a contemporary spin on thread, Imogen transforms a traditional material into sculptural form. She constructs figurative works that hover between 2D and 3D - part drawing, part painting, part sculpture.
Imogen was recently awarded a residency at Bankside Hotel, London, completed her largest corporate commission to date for PR Robotic Packaging. (Netherlands), and became a Graduate Member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. She continues to receive esteemed endorsement from the King's Trust.
