Titled after the familiar chaos of digital file names, finalfinaldavid.png reflects on how we now experience art not in physical space, but through screens, feeds, and filters. Inspired by Michelangelo’s David, the figure is reimagined through layered, hand-cut stencils and fragmented by squares and triangles that indicate pixelation, cropping, and digital compression. The title speaks to the restless need for revision and refinement, where nothing feels truly finished. There’s an irony in that, given the piece is based on a figure often considered the pinnacle of artistic perfection.
Set against a vivid yellow backdrop, the work echoes the visual intensity of media designed to grab attention. It sits in quiet tension with its source, something once monumental now flattened into a 1:1 frame. finalfinaldavid.png asks what gets lost and what remains when art is no longer encountered in person but consumed as content.
